Rother District Council Contact Centre. Rother District Council now has a single telephone number for dealing with most public telephone and e-mail enquiries. It is 01424 787000. The general e-mail address is customerservices@rother.gov.uk. Web: rother.gov.uk. You can still go into the Community Help Points in Battle (6 Market Square), Rye (25 Cinque Ports Street) or Bexhill (Amherst Road).

Bus advertising new Rother service

A bus visited Sedlescombe on 23 September to inform the public of this enhanced service. The Rother Contact Centre brochure states: From requesting a bus pass to paying for a bulky collection service and from reporting flytipping to assistance with your planning application, the Contact Centre is there to provide the service that you need - efficiently and consistently - and only a phone call away."

Although the Council Benefits and Local Taxation Services are not available through the Contact Centre at the moment, they will be soon. For the time being, call 01424 78740 for queries relating to Housing Benefit or 01424 787730 for information on Council Tax and Non Domestic Business Rates.


Free Electric Blanket Testing in Rother. Free Electric Blanket testing will be available as follows, all between 10:00 and 15:00:

  • Monday 27 October at Robertsbridge Village Hall
  • Tuesday 28 October at Sidley Baptist Church
  • Wednesday 29 October at Pett Village Hall
  • Thursday 30 October at Rye Club, Market Road
  • Friday 31 October at Battle Memorial Hall

Testing will be by appointment only. Please ring Maggie Cornish (Project Support Worker for Older People) on 01424 457129. There will also be other local agencies in attendance promoting safety and other old people's issues.

Sussex Police at Battle Farmers' Market. As part of the Sussex Police Authority’s current programme of public consultation, its vice-chairman, Dr Laurie Bush, and the district police commander, Ch.Insp. Heather Keating, will attend the Battle Farmers’ Market on Saturday (20 September), 9am to 1pm.
De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill on Sea. The Parish Council has received details of exhibitions and events to be held at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill.
Steps into Action. The Council has received information from East Sussex County Council regarding School Travel Plans.
Fieldwork. The quarterly newsletter of the Campaign to Protect Rural England has been received by the Parish Council.
Clerks & Councils Direct. The Parish Council has received a copy of this magazine.
Parish Plan 2007 Survey Update Report. The Parish Council has published this Report this month. It sets out to answer the comments that were made this time last year during the Parish Plan Survey Update. It also explains what has been done in the past year to address some of the problems. Copies can be obtained from the Clerk.
Customer Contact Centre, Rother District Council. Rother District Council invites all of its residents to join them in the launch of their new Contact Centre, which will handle customer telephone calls and e-mails. The Customer Services Team will be visiting the Brede Lane Car Park, Sedlescombe, between 1000 and 1200 on Tuesday 23 September.
