Neighbourhood Panel. A meeting to start the process of setting up a Ewhurst/Sedlescombe Neighbourhood Panel took place on 17/12/08 at The Queen's Head pub.
GP dispensing change is rejected. Proposals to change the rules on which GP practices in England can provide drugs directly to their patients have been rejected by ministers. Health Minister Phil Hope told MPs on Tuesday there was to be "no change" to the current arrangements. Mr Hope said the decision was as a result of the strength of responses to the consultation.
Funding disappointment. The Parish Council has received yet another rejection from a funding body. An application had been made to The Foundation for Sport and the Arts for help towards paying for the construction of a new sports pavilion at Sedlescombe. However, a rejection letter was received just before Christmas. The Parish Council will be making a decision regarding the amount of loan it will have to raise in January. The pavilion is expected to be completed in February/March of 2009.

Press Release from Pestalozzi. Pestalozzi International Village Trust has announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive, Paul Evans, former Chairman of Marshall-Tufflex who will start in January. Pestalozzi has also taken the opportunity to thank Derek Marshall for all his hard work during his 5 years as Chief Executive with the charity and to wish him a very happy retirement.



Dungeness New Build? Public Meeting. Notice has been received of six public meetings to be held in January regarding the next generation of nuclear power stations.
Trees. The Tree Council has just published a book called "Trees and how to grow them" and the Parish Council has received a copy. Please ask the Clerk if you would like to see the book.  
Advisory Trunk Road information. Between 15/12 and 20/12/08, southbound between Sedlescombe and Hastings on the A21, inspection works are to be carried out with temporary traffic lights between 20:00 and 06:00. According to the Highways Agency, the impact is likely to be low.
