FREE TENNIS COACHING FOR CHILDREN IN BEXHILL. Rother District Council is offering two sessions of tennis coaching in Egerton park, Bexhill aimed at encouraging new players into the game. It is available for 9-12 year olds. There are two sessions - on 29 July and 31 July. Each day has two bookable slots from 9am to 9.45 am and the second from 10am to 10.45 am. There are only 16 spaces available in each session. Book by e-mailing or phone 01424 787583. Please state it is for summer tennis and include the child's name, preferred time on each day and contact number.  
DATES FOR YOUR DIARY IN AUGUST. The Woodland Trust is arranging some free family activities in Brede High Woods during August.
ACTION IN RURAL SUSSEX. The July Newsletter has been published and includes an article regarding the winners of the Village of the Year 2009.

APPLICATION BY FOXES DEN FOR A PREMISES LICENCE AT PESTALOZZI INTERNATIONAL VILLAGE. Rother's Licensing Panel has turned down the application for a Premises Licence to run a 3-day music festival in the grounds of the Pestalozzi Estate. Further details can be viewed by looking at the Rother District Council Minutes of the panel hearing held on 8 July 2009.

An announcement was made at the end of July that the event had been moved to Port Lympne.

2009 VILLAGE OF THE YEAR. It's official! Sedlescombe IS the 2009 East Sussex Calor Village of the Year. Winners of the West Sussex and East Sussex awards, runners up and special awards were made public at Scaynes Hill Millennium Centre on Friday 10 July. Sedlescombe was represented at the ceremony arranged by Action in rural Sussex by Cllr Valerie Wright, Chairman of Sedlescombe Parish Council, Cllrs Pauline Glew and Jenny Mitchell and Parish Clerk, Pauline Raymond. As well as a certificate and plaque, the Council was presented with a cheque for £800.

PAVILION OFFICIAL OPENING. The Official Opening of the Pavilion took place on Saturday 11 July at the sportsfield. The opening ceremony was performed by Mr David Mitchell, who was a founder of the Rangers Junior Football Club and spent many years as groundsman at the field.

The application for a new premises licence at the Pestalozzi International Village, Sedlescombe was considered at a meeting of Rother's General Licensing Panel on 08/07/09. The applicant was allowed to change the application to a one-off Licence to cover the One Love Festival due to be held 21-23/08/09.

Rother District Council announced on 13/07/09 that the premises licence had been refused.
