ANNUAL ASSEMBLY OF THE PARISH MEETING OF SEDLESCOMBE. TODAY - Tuesday, 26 April, in Sedlescombe Village Hall, the annual get-together of the parish is to be held. As usual, several village organisations and businesses will be there with their display tables from 7pm as well as after the meeting. The meeting itself will start at 7.30pm and local residents will have the opportunity to hear our district and county councillors and to ask them questions. The Parish Council will chair the meeting and will also be ready to answer questions or receive comments. Tea and coffee will be available at the end of the meeting.

Sedlescombe's Annual Assembly is usually held on the last Tuesday of April and, unfortunately, this year it falls in a week with two bank holidays - the Monday is Easter Monday and the Friday is the Royal Wedding. Despite it being such a busy week, the Council hopes that local residents will be able to attend in their usual high numbers.

By now, the Parish Council's Annual Report should have been delivered to every home in the parish of Sedlescombe. Please see the agenda for the Assembly inside the front cover and the Minutes of last year's Assembly on pages 2-6.

PARISH COUNCIL ELECTIONS. 9 persons were nominated to stand for the Parish Council and, therefore, the election in May will not be contested in Sedlescombe. CONCESSIONARY FARES - contact Roger Williams, Head of Transport Operations at East Sussex County Council on 01273 482272. People travelling in East Sussex are still able to use concessionary bus passes from 09:00. There had been uncertainties as to whether the 09:00 start for use of these passes would still be available but, after public consultation, County Councillors agreed to retain it. Other counties, including Brighton & Hove have a 09:30 start for concessionary bus passes.

People wishing to apply for a pass for the first time, must obtain one through their local District Council or from any East Sussex Library.

ROAD RECYCLING SCHEMES - contact Dale Foden, Head of Highway Operations at East Sussex County Council on 01273 482976. East Sussex County Council is carrying out several road recycling schemes as part of a two-year programme to help reduce the carbon footprint and lower cost and waste production by using specially designed techniques. Roads are resurfaced without waste material being removed from the site and only a small amount of new material being used to create a new surface.
MAJOR ROADWORKS IN SEDLESCOMBE. East Sussex County Council has now included the junction realignment at the B2244, Chapel Hill and Ladybird Lane in its programme of works with a provisional start date of May 2011. This project is in connection with planning approval granted to the Pestalozzi International Village.
