Trust purposes of the Charity Commission Scheme, Charity Number 305305:
To use 1.8 acres of land beside the river which make up the Public Playing Field and Recreation Ground for the provision and maintenance of a recreation ground or playing field for the benefit of the inhabitants of Sedlescombe and the neighbourhood without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions. The Council may provide, or assist in the provision of, on the trust property, such facilities for physical exercise and training, lectures, classes and other forms of recreation and leisure-time occupation having the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants as the Council shall from time to time think fit. In addition, the Council can allow the land to be used for other purposes as long as the use does not substantially interfere with its recreational use. Under certain circumstances, the Council may be able to sell the land

T08/09.7 Apologies for absence were received from Mrs Glew and Mr Rand.
T08/09.8 Minutes of the Meeting of the Annual Meeting of the Trust held on 13/05/08. RESOLVED: That the Minutes of the Trust's Annual Meeting held on 13/05/08 are signed as a correct record.
T08/09.9 Tennis courts use by public. RESOLVED: That the tennis courts should continue to be available free of charge in 2009.

Tennis courts use by the Sedlescombe Netball Club. Sedlescombe's newly-formed Netball Club began to use the one tennis court for Monday evening practice between 7.30pm and 9pm in the summer of 2008 after they had paid for the appropriate lines to be painted on both courts. No charge was made. RESOLVED: That the Trust agrees in principle to the Netball Club continuing to use the tennis court(s) free of charge but would ask for a donation to be made to the maintenance of the pavilion.
T08/09.11 Opening of a current account for the charity. All current advice is that the Trust should have its own bank account. RESOLVED: That the Trust appoints Barclays Bank plc as the Trust's bankers and accepts the terms of the Barclays Customer Agreement confirmed by completion of the Bank's form of Appointment of Bankers. Signatories to be Mrs Wright, Mrs Irwin and Mrs Glew with Mrs Raymond being authorised to speak to the Bank. Cheques to be signed by any two of the three signatories, Mrs Wright, Mrs Irwin and Mrs Glew.
T08/09.12 Funding. The Trust has no income of its own and relies for funding on Sedlescombe Parish Council. RESOLVED: That an invoice is sent to Sedlescombe Parish Council in the sum of £3,500 to cover expenses for the 2008/09 year.
T08/09.13 Expenses. The Parish Council has agreed to carry out maintenance of the Trust's property but is expected to send an invoice in the sum of £3,243 to cover the cost of maintenance of the property between 01/04 and 31/12/08. RESOLVED: That once the account has been set up and money deposited, £3,243 is transferred to Sedlescombe Parish Council.
T08/09.14 Play Pathfinder Funding Opportunities. Rother District Council had invited expressions of interest by 19/01/09 in a grant of up to £50,000 for developing one project funded through a Play Pathfinder grant. Only one project will be selected for funding which has to be completed in 2009/10. The letter states that, although there is scope at the Riverside to improve play opportunities for the target age group of 8-13, because the existing provision is of a better quality than that at many of the other parish council sites, a project at Sedlescombe may not be considered a priority. Mrs Wright and Mrs Raymond had attended a recent briefing at the Bexhill Town Hall.

The Trust agreed that no action should be taken at the current time but that other funding should be considered if found to be available in the coming year for improvement of the tennis courts and recreational area.

T08/09.15 Date of next meeting. Possibly following the March Council Meeting.
